چکیده

Applications of multitemporal SAR data in many cases require accurate estimates of the backscattering coefficient at each time. Here we describe how multitemporal and spatial filtering can be combined in a processing chain to greatly improve the radiometric accuracy of the data and how the general methods can be simplified in the case of ERS data. The results will be illustrated using ERS-2 images in the context of exploiting change detection for forest applications.

Principal Component Analysis for Change Detection on Polarimetric Multitemporal SAR Data

Principal component analysis (PCA) is applied to investigate on changes occurring in multitemporal polarimetric SAR imagery. Correlation instead of covariance matrix is used in the transformation, thus reducing gain variations introduced by the imaging system and giving equal weight to each polarization. The approach is effective when PCA is computed on images rccordcd simultaneously, as well a...

Simultaneous generation and registration of SAR images

Registration of SAR images is required for interferometric processing and multitemporal analysis. A procedure which allows simultaneous generation and registration of SAR images from spaceborne sensors is presented. The procedure is based on the properties of the chirp scaling algorithm and is used in a interferometric processor to generate the interferogram, the fringes and the coherence map.

Advanced methods for change detection in VHR multitemporal SAR images

Change detection aims at identifying possible changes in the state of an object or phenomenon by jointly observing data acquired at different times over the same geographical area. In this context, the repetitive coverage and high quality of remotely sensed images acquired by Earth-orbiting satellites make such kind of data an ideal information source for change detection. Among the different k...

Urban Change Detection Using Coherence and Intensity Characteristics of Multi-temporal ERS-1/2 Imagery

In this paper, the potential of multitemporal ERS-1/2 InSAR data for detecting urban land-cover changes is investigated on a test area within Shanghai city, China. A new unsupervised change-detection approach is proposed, which is characterized by the combined use of two temporal variations based on backscattering intensity and long-term coherence from multitemporal ERS-1/2 SAR images. The prop...
